Winter Vaccinations Public Facing Campaign

Overview

This autumn/winter, flu vaccination and COVID-19 boosters will be critical to protecting lives, livelihoods and the NHS. Communications will play a critical role in maximising uptake of both vaccines amongst eligible groups.

Therefore, we are running an integrated campaign signalling the importance of both vaccines building on learnings from previous flu and COVID-19 vaccine marketing activity to inform the public about the threat of both viruses circulating this winter, overcome barriers to vaccine uptake and hero the benefits of vaccines to increase intention to get vaccinated and get protected.

This year's multi-channel marketing campaign will launch late October and will include broadcast TV, Video on Demand, broadcast and digital radio, social and digital media, outdoor advertising, multicultural media, PR and partnerships activity.

As press announcements launching this year’s flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes will be taking place w/c 5th September, some social media assets are being made available early to support activity around this.

Eligible cohorts for the COVID-19 autumn booster vaccine:

  • Pregnant women
  • Adults 16-65 in at risk groups
  • People 50 years old and over
  • Health and social care workers

Eligible cohorts for the free flu vaccine:

  • People with long term health conditions
  • Pregnant women
  • 2- and 3-year-olds – having turned 2 or 3 by 31 August 2022
  • Children in all primary school years and Years 6-9 in secondary school
  • People 50 years old and over
  • Health and social care workers

Partners can promote the campaign using campaign resources from when they are available.
