The eatwell guide highlights the different types of food that make up our diet, and helps children learn the proportions we should eat to have a healthier and more balanced diet.

In the classroom

The eatwell guide can help you demonstrate to children what proportion of food they should eat from the different food groups.

How to use:

  • Ask children to look at what foods are in each section of the eatwell guide
  • Discuss the different food groups and why you need to eat more of some groups than others
  • Discuss the origins of food from the different food groups

The eatwell guide is a widely accepted and easily recognisable visual aid to help promote balanced eating.
